Title:
NAFI 2025 - Startle and Overcoming the Human Factor - At the PPC Education Center
Topic:
How to Persevere and Excel Amidst Surprise and Chaos
Date and Time:
Saturday, July 26, 2025, starting at 10:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Loren 'Skip' Johnson
Brief Description:

"We don’t rise to the level of our expectation; we fall to the level of our training” (Archilochus, Greek philosopher and soldier, 650 BC). The Greeks survived as the underdog for centuries because they understood how the startled and frightened warrior behaved and trained that way. In aviation you never know when YOU will be the underdog. How far will you fall before your training catches you? This presentation focuses on the human factors, physiological and emotional human response. Understand how the human brain reacts to startle, how to prepare, be resilient and to recover efficiently and safely as the single seat aviator or in the crew environment from a resource management (CRM) perspective.

PRESENTED DURING THE EAA AIRVENTURE FLY-IN.  NO FEE FOR THE NAFI PRESENTATIONS, BUT AN ENTRANCE FEE IS REQUIRED BY EAA AIRVENTURE TO ENTER THE GROUNDS.
