Topic:
Update on Angle of Attack Indicators for General Aviation Aircraft
Date and Time:
Thursday, April 3, 2025, starting at 12:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Karen Kalishek, ATP, DPE, MCFII/MEI
Brief Description:

This presentation provides information on the benefits of using AoA indicators, the AoA indicator working group activities, the FAA's recent SAIB encouraging installation of AOA indicators in all GA aircraft, and training programs.

In December 2024 the FAA issued a special airworthiness information bulletin (SAIB) recommending that angle of attack (AOA) indicators be installed and calibrated in all general aviation aircraft. Pilots who have flown for decades without using an AOA indicator may wonder why the FAA took this recent step. Learn how we have come to this point, the value of AOA indicators, and the status of collaborative work to develop and standardize AOA equipment, training, and FAA guidance for the general aviation industry.
