Title:
Understanding the FAA Medical Exam Process
Topic:
The Sopwith Camel Flying Club Presents an In-Depth Look at the FAA Medical Certification Process
Date and Time:
Friday, March 21, 2025, starting at 18:00 Mountain Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Dr. Pete Sipos, Senior FAA AME, HIMS AME
Brief Description:

Whether you’re a new pilot or a seasoned airline captain, the FAA medical exam can feel like a high-stakes checkride for your health. But just like a thorough preflight inspection ensures a safe flight, a well-understood medical certification process helps ensure you’re fit to fly—protecting both you and your passengers. By knowing what to expect—from MedXPress to EKGs and special issuances—you can stay ahead of potential issues and keep safety at the forefront. We’ll also touch on the BasicMed process—an alternative certification pathway for eligible pilots—and help you determine if it’s the right choice for you. This session will demystify the FAA medical exam and give you the tools to navigate it with confidence.
