Title:
VMC Club Meeting - EAA Chapter 1445 - Mastering the Art of Aviation - EAA Membership Not Required
Topic:
Wrong Way Taxi Deviation Leads to Mishap
Date and Time:
Tuesday, March 4, 2025, starting at 18:30 Arizona Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Alexander Peña
Brief Description:

The EAA VMC Club provides a "hangar flying" experience organized around visual flight, in order to promote safety, education, and proficiency.

Every 1-hour meeting consists of a scenario presentation and group discussion about unusual or interesting charts, changed rules and procedures, and member experiences.  We also have occasional guest speakers.

Guest Speaker Hans Elysee will discuss a "KCHD Taxi Mishap". On May 11, 2024 Hans was planning to fly a club plane to Ryan. After experiencing some issues with the radios, he decided to taxi back to the hangar to resolve them. Unfortunately, while taxiing back he made a wrong turn which caused considerable damage to the aircraft. He will discuss the causes and events leading up to this incident, as well as ways to avoid such errors.

Bring your EFB, your experience, and your questions, and be ready to participate.

All are welcome.  You do not need to be an EAA member to attend

What is the EAA/VMC Club?

EAA provides monthly program resources in the form of actual VMC related scenarios designed to encourage open discussion, and for all participants to answer the question “What would you do if this happened to you?”

What is the purpose of EAA/VMC Club?

The purpose of EAA Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) Clubs is to promote flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in flying.

EAA VMC Clubs are extensions to local EAA chapters and offer monthly VMC program meetings where pilots can network and share knowledge and experiences.

Do you need to bring anything?

First, bring your thoughts or story and be willing to share them with the group.  This meeting is very interactive.  Participation by the group is a fundamental element to the EAA/VMC Club meeting.

Others have found it helpful to bring along a copy of their flight manual, GPS manual, and charts.  If you navigate with an iPad, bring it along.

Who can attend?

This meeting is open to all current, non-current, and future pilots.

Click here for more information about EAA VMC Clubs.

Note: You are welcome to attend the IMC Meeting which immediately follows this VMC presentation. Separate registration is required.
