Title:
San Juan CFI/DPE Forum
Topic:
Teaching Aeronautical Decision Making and Threat and Error Management
Speaker(s):
Jorge L. Echegoyen
Brief Description:
As with previous forums this year, we will be focusing on the practical application of "Human Factors" to improve our teaching. Our first topic to be covered will be "Aeronautical Decision Making", or "ADM", which is an invaluable skill that every pilot needs to acquire and maintain. It can be said that the true measure of a proficient pilot is closely related to good ADM skills.
The second part of the forum will be dedicated to "Threat and Error Management", or "TEM". TEM is a safety management approach that detects, recognizes, and manages threats. Fact is, if not detected and properly managed, threats and errors can lead to undesired aircraft states, such as Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) or Loss of Control.
We will end the forum with an awareness briefing on "Illegal Charters" and an EZ WINGS review.
