Title:
FAA WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program
Topic:
An in-depth description and discussion of the FAA’s WINGS Pilot Proficiency
Speaker(s):
Richard Funcheon,
Brief Description:
Please join us for an in-depth description and discussion of the FAA’s WINGS Pilot Proficiency
Program. Rich Funcheon is a Vero Beach FAA Safety Team Lead Representative and aviation
instructor at Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). He has been appointed by FAA as a WINGS
Pro. Rich is most current on the program and is a program mentor. He has also been awarded
monetarily as a result of completing certain aspects of the program — you can make money
too — hear how!
The WINGS - Pilot Proficiency Program is based on the premise that pilots who maintain
currency and proficiency in the basics of flight will enjoy a safer and more stress-free flying
experience. The objective is to address the primary accident causal factors that continue to
plague the general aviation community. By focusing on this objective, the FAA hopes to reduce
the number of accidents with the same causes. It is not a simple “Award” program but is instead
a true proficiency program, designed to help improve pilot skills and knowledge.
