Brief Description:

This will be a presentation on the typical General Aviation ELT and where they are typically located within the aircraft. Discussion on how the ELTs operate, the various frequency bands which ELTs transmit and how they may be triggered. There will be a demonstration using both an old, inoperative ELT and a Training ELT Beacon (121.775) of how the ELT controls operate, how to track an ELT using a handheld radio and how to properly shutdown/secure/reset an ELT which is transmitting.
