Title:
California Flying Oddities
Topic:
A Look Around Some Interesting and Challenging Procedures at Airports Around the State of California.
Date and Time:
Saturday, October 14, 2023, starting at 09:45 Pacific Daylight Time (10:45 MDT; 11:45 CDT; 12:45 EDT; 06:45 HST; 08:45 AKDT; 09:45 Arizona; 16:45 GMT)
Speaker(s):
Mike Jesch
Brief Description:

In spite of "standard" procedures published in all the regulations and approved handbooks, California is home to lots of variations on those themes. No big deal if you know about them, but can be a big deal if you don't, or don't know how to fly them.

This year, Captain Mike will take a tour around some of those variations that seem to cause lots of problems on a regular basis. Covering VFR and IFR procedures, including arrivals, departures, and flying through airspace

Mike has been flying in and around California for over 40 years now, and owns and operates a Cessna 182 based in the SoCal area. He's been a CFI for nearly all of that time, and flies a Boeing 787 for a living, based out of LAX.
