- BasicMed – an alternative to traditional pilot medical certification is available to most pilots who are not engaged in flying for compensation or hire.
- The effects of commonly prescribed and over-the-counter drugs can comprise pilot’s ability to fly safely.
- Pilots must consider the effects of combinations of drugs. This is difficult to do without consulting a physician.
- AMEs are the best source for the effects of drugs and combinations of drugs.
- Pilots must disclose all of their medical issues to their AMEs in order to receive a comprehensive assessment of their medical condition and fitness to fly.

Bring your family, friends, airplane and appetites! This safety event will be informative and tasty! Yes, we will couple this WINGS safety event with the monthly EAA Chapter 866 "Smilin Jack" pancake breakfast! The EAA Chapter breakfast begins at 0830, and has a cost, but the WINGS safety seminar is "FREE".
There is another opportunity to attend the same seminar during the EAA Chapter 866 meeting, held the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. same location.
Data shows that pilots who participate in the WINGS program are involved in fewer accidents and incidents because of improved aviation knowledge and pilot proficiency. A Phase of WINGS equals a flight review. Additionally, some aviation insurers offer discounts to pilots who participate. If you have any questions about the WINGS program, talk to your local FAA Safety Team Representatives.
