Title:
First Flight After Maintenance
Topic:
Things to Consider in Preparation for First Flight After Maintenance.
Speaker(s):
Richard Jeffs, FAASTeam Program Manager
Brief Description:
It is in mechanics self interest for pilots to be successful, and safe, when they fly. Mechanics have influence when pilots take their airplanes on that first flight after an overhaul. They offer advice and guidance and it is to the technician's benefit to give good advice. This presentation will discuss some “best practices” from a somewhat unlikely source. However, this source has a lot of experience in “first flights”. We can learn from this source and put it into our practices.
We’ll discuss items you might recommend your customers add to their checklists after maintenance, as well as the suggestion that when preparing to fly for the first time after extensive aircraft maintenance the pilot needs to be very alert for oddities.
