Saturday 25th March: 1:00pm:  Why Good Pilots Make Bad Decisions

AOPA’s Steve Bateman will review some recent accidents to help us understand why otherwise good pilots made some really bad decisions. Steve will present research from several books which dissect the way the brain makes decisions...on the ground. He’ll then lead us through some shortfalls of the human decision-making process, and the implications in the aviation environment. The presentation will close with some ideas on what we can do about it this, particularly during safety training—and how we can use the FAA WINGS program to implement a rigorous proficiency program.
