Title:
Icing Risk Factors Hope Is Not a Strategy Know Before You Go
Topic:
Aircraft Icing, Types, Effects, Predictions, and More
Date and Time:
Wednesday, January 18, 2023, starting at 19:00 Eastern Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Mr Paul Jones, CFII, MEI
Brief Description:

In-flight icing can be a quiet, insidious killer, it can also be a very rapid killer.  In this presentation, we will cover the conditions which cause aircraft icing, the types of icing, and its effects on aircraft performance and flight characteristics.  We will also look at weather products, and forecasting tools, and briefly touch upon the Skew-T log P Diagram, relative to icing potential and severity.

Throughout the presentation, the distinction will be drawn for those pilots whose aircraft is certified for Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI) conditions, and those not FIKI certificated.  In the case of the former, risk assessment and management will be considered.  In the case of the latter, risk avoidance will be the focus.

Join us for a treat on this fascinating topic!  Aviators of all experience levels are encouraged to participate!
