This is the third of three safety seminars on Saturday, January 29, 2022 that will review essential Airman regulatory requirements, GA security concerns, and what new and upcoming.

It is the final seminar of the day.  A review of the regulatory requirements and responsibilities as the Pilot in Command. Security is a big issue in today’s world, and therefore also in GA! Just like with other key ingredients of a successful flight, pilots must know how to manage security issues (interception! TFRs! Cross border flights! Etc!) . Many factors can conspire to push us into a security situation after our initial cross-country/flight planning.  For example, unforecasted weather (we did check before we launched?!), unexpected airspace issues (TFRs, active restricted areas, even hot MOAs...), etc. We also need to consider right-of-way rules, minimum safe altitudes, etc.  Do we use an "EFB"?  Are the electronic data bases error free - and how do we know?  Is our iPad current? When did we last update our GPS db? So, we don't use paper charts any longer... what's our backup? What do the regs say?

A brief self evaluation quiz will be completed by each participant throughout each seminar to assess their understanding of material and concepts.

This seminar is made possible by the generous efforts of the Aviation Department of Big Bend Community College.
