Everyone knows it is HARD to add new equipment to your Standard Airworthiness aircraft. To a degree, that is intentional - SAFETY requires a high standard. The General Aviation nation, with a loud and clear voice, expressed a desire to ease and streamline this process to get better equipment to the field faster, to enhance safety, to reduce the cost of certification, which in turn drives the bottom-line cost to the owner-operator.
The FAA heard that voice and has made some progress. Let's talk about it.

The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) is a public-private partnership working to improve general aviation safety. The GAJSC uses a data-driven, consensus-based approach to analyze aviation safety data and develop risk reduction efforts.
The GAJSC selects subjects based on an analysis of accident and incident data that shows a commonality of risks nationally. The GAJSC’s goal is to reduce the GA fatal accident rate.
