Brief Description:

Statistics indicate that pilots who regularly participate in recurrent training are less likely to have an accident or violate a regulation. Bring a colleague and encourage others to attend. This seminar will cover an overview of weight & balance terms. It will demonstrate several techniques for calculating weight & balance and feature an 11-year trend of weight & balance accidents.  Pre-registration is REQUIRED as seating is limited !!!

This seminar will cover basic terms such as weight, basic empty weight, arm, moment, useful load, payload, CG, et cetera.

It will also cover several techniques for calculating weight and balance:
· Table method (pencil and paper or calculator)
· Graphical method
· Spreadsheet method

The seminar will cover several formulas
· Determine the weight to be shifted to achieve a certain CG.
· Calculate changes in V-speeds (Va, Vs, Vs0, Vglide) as weight decreases

The seminar will feature NTSB accident data where weight & balance was a identified as a factor.
 · Present an 11-year of weight & balance accidents (1/1/2000 – 1/1/2012)
· Present several weight & balance accident scenarios so all can learn from the mistakes of others
· Demonstrate how to access the NTSB information
