The Aviation Safety Reporting System(often called “the NASA form”) has been in existence for over three decades now, yet a surprising number of general aviation pilots are unaware of the benefits of they can receive from this program. One major benefit is protection from enforcement for accidental violations of Federal Aviation Regulations. However, the system benefits all of us in many more ways. The data that is collected by NASA is analyzed by both NASA and the FAA Safety Team in an effort to eliminate hazards before they cause accidents. This has an obvious advantage over the alternative, which is to rely upon accident data.
In 2006, the ASRS made a big enhancement by adding the capability to file reports online. The FAA Safety Team encourages you to visit NASA’s web site. It contains a great deal of good information in addition to the online reporting capability. The link to the site is:

Why not go there and make it one of the “favorites” on your computer. Your participation in the program might just prevent one of our fellow aviators from having an accident.
