Happy April everyone!  Time for the third quarter update.

The Safety Stand Down is locked in for the end of the month in all three districts.  We've got Commander Aero MGY on the 20th, Port Clinton Airport on the 20th, and CSCC at TZR on the 27th.  If you are able to assist with any of these events, contact Jason in Cincinnati or Mark in Columbus and we will get you set up.  As of right now, I am still looking for some people to be part of the loss of control discussion panel.  I have a couple of inspectors from the CVG FSDO lined up but would like some "civilian" assistance as well from CFIs or DPEs.  Let me know if you have any interest and can take part, I'll get the info to you ASAP.

George at Moraine Airpark is still looking for a seminar on May 4th, any topic would be fine.  If you can help him out, please call him at 937 866 2489.  Please lend George a hand if you can, he's got a hungry audience up there.

The business plan for this year calls for three loss of control presentations to be done in the state, one per district.  Fortunately, this will be easier than falling off a greased yoga ball since the safety stand down is all about loss of control.  Two for the price of one, can't beat that eh?  The business plan also calls for three light sport presentations in the state, again one per district.  These don't have to be done until the end of the fiscal year so if you are knowledgeable of the subject and want to present something, let me know.  The EAA chapters would be a great audience for this one.

For those who are in the Columbus and Cleveland areas, take special note that the control towers for Bolton Field, OSU Airport and Cuyahoga Country are slated to be closed within the next couple of months.  The tower at OSU is working on some things to keep open through the big NIFA competition next month but after that it may close doors just like the others.  Not only is this going to put several controllers out of work, it will also create a safety situation at airports that will no longer have ATC support directly on the ground.  We are working on getting some information put together that will help educate the pilots in these areas as to how they should proceed.  Bottom line: BE CAREFUL and stay safe if you operate at one of these airports!

There have been some holdups at the region with regard to the GA award winners for this year.  We are still waiting on getting the awards themselves taken care of, and once those are in hand we will start presentations.

As always, please call me or email me if you have any concerns or suggestions.

Jason Forshey, FAASTeam Program Manager, GA Ops OH, CVG FSDO
