SUBJECT: KLEE and KTIX Airport Traffic Control Tower Closures
CANCELLATION: April 6, 2014
Due to sequestration, the Leesburg International (LEE) and Space Coast Regional (TIX) airports no longer have operating control towers.Therefore, to enhance the movement of instrument flight rule (IFR) arrival and departure aircraft, please follow the prescribed recommendations.
LEE
Arrivals: If feasible, cancel IFR flight plans prior to landing; if unable, cancel as soon as practical after landing via either the ground communications outlet (GCO) on frequency 121.725 or via the remote transmitter/receiver on frequency 120.225.
Departures: If unable to depart VFR and obtain your clearance in the air, contact Orlando Approach Control via the GCO or via frequency 120.225. The Orlando Approach Control frequency for the LEE area is: 121.1.
TIX
Arrivals: If feasible, cancel IFR flight plans prior to landing; if unable, cancel with St. Petersburg (PIE) Automated Flight Service Station (FSS) as soon as practical after landing.
Departures: If unable to depart VFR and obtain your clearance in the air, contact PIE AFSS for your IFR clearance and release off of the airport. The Orlando Approach Control frequency for the TIX area is: 134.95.
