FAASTeam Notice
Type: General Information
Notice Date: Tuesday, July 19, 2011
Notice Number: NOTC3094
ATTENTION: Colorado Airmen
This notice expired on
Monday, October 31, 2011

Due to dense residential congestion and rapidly rising terrain on the south side of Erie Municipal Airport (EIK), airmen are strongly urged to fly a standard approach as depicted in the Aeronautical Information Manual and or Airplane Flying Handbook, whenever possible, so as to maintain a safe measure of separation from structures on the ground.

When departing on Rwy. 15 to the south, please be aware of your rate of climb until clear of the residential area and or established at a reasonable altitude allowing re-entry into the traffic pattern.

During those months when outside air temperature becomes a challenge, be extra vigilant when determining the affect density altitude will have on your aircraft’s performance.

Remember, when operating in any airport traffic area 14 CFR 91.119, in part, states that… Except when necessary for takeoff or landing, no person may operate an aircraft below an altitude allowing, if a power unit fails, an emergency landing without undue hazard to persons or property on the surface.
