Time for a Really Good Preflight!
This notice expired on

Many of us have been cooped up at home, doing our best to not get rusty and make sure we are prepared to "spread our wings" again.

Did you know that your aircraft may have been cooped up at the airport too? Many aircraft have sat a little longer than normal and with the spring time weather and effects, they may need a little extra tender loving care before they fly.

Now is the time to do an extended preflight on your aircraft, checking over your aircraft with that special attention and looking at those spots and areas you may not look at often or on a regular preflight. Birds have had extra time to build nests, bugs may have found a terrific place to hide and strong spring weather and winds may have bent some things that were not meant to bend. Here in New England, with our wild spring weather we have found aircraft damage on control surfaces, pushrods and other parts, so it is important that you take your time and really check over your aircraft with that extended preflight.

Check your aircraft manual, section 8 in most manuals, for the Service Handling and Maintenance section. Review the servicing and flyable storage portions. Assure yourself that the aircraft has been kept ready to fly.

So as you get out, be sure you have done your best to be safe and spread your wings. And please be sure to take the time to make sure your aircraft is up to it also.
