Pre-Flight Planning & In-Flight Operations Using ForeFlight Mobile on Apple iPad/iPhone
Speaker(s):
Bill Doyle, CFI A&I, AGI, IGI, FAAST Rep
Brief Description:
At this seminar we will look at ForeFlight Mobile as used on the Apple iPad and iPhone and its use for pre-flight planning as well as in-flight operation. We will discuss pre-flight planning in general including such topics as TFR awareness, IMSAFE, pilot/crew currency, airplane currency, and FAR 91.103. We will specifically address how to use ForeFlight Mobile for such pre-flight planning tasks as weight and balance, route planning, and pre-flight briefing (area forecasts, airmets, sigmets, METARs, TAFs, and NOTAMs including TFRs). We will also cover in-flight cautions for using ForeFlight Mobile iPads/iPhones. Lastly, we will illustrate how the iPad can calculate the crosswind component using a calculator app.
