Featured speakers and topics:

Jim Ambrose, a FAA Safety Team Lead Representative and host of the Syracuse Stand Down for Safety will discuss how establishing good habits in your flying will reduce your risk, increase safety and make for a more enjoyable flying experience.

Gene Benson, a FAA Safety Team Lead Representative will present Out of Control - In More Ways Than One! This engaging seminar takes a look at some of the deep, underlying causes of the loss of control accident. All pilots realize the importance of positive aircraft control, yet loss-of-control accidents are frequent and deadly. The importance of understanding the performance and limitations of the aircraft is discussed. But the underlying human factors that cause pilots sometimes ignore safe operating practices and find themselves in dangerous situations is emphasized. The seminar will include demonstrations of some of the ways our mind can play tricks on us, causing us to make bad decisions. Several recent loss-of-control accidents will be discussed, with an emphasis on how the human factors discussed during the seminar may have played a role.

David St. George, FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and FAA Safety Team Lead Representative will present Risk Savvy Piloting: Step Up and Fly Safely. 85% of GA accidents are human factors failures. We, the pilots, are the "weak link" in the safety chain. Our new technology is amazing, airplanes are exceptionally safe, but accidents continue to plague our industry. This is exceptionally good news only because we can fix this immediately and right now! The difficulty is taking the first step and committing to safer operations. You can achieve a higher level of safety with a correct risk-management system. The proper approach to managing risk is now well-established in corporate and airline flying and this has led to a dramatic decrease in accidents. It is time for GA to "step up and fly safely!" Don't miss this exciting, transformational seminar. Increase your aviation safety now.

Rob Belisario, FAA DPE will review some important airport surface safety topics and discuss "hot spots" at the Syracuse airport.

Air Traffic Controllers of the Syracuse Air Traffic Control Tower will discuss best practices for runway safety, how to leverage the most out of utilizing air traffic services and local air traffic issues.

Jeff Kleinwaks, a FAA Safety Team Representative, accomplished local flight instructor and glider instructor, will discuss Power Off Landings from a Glider Pilot's Perspective. He will also discuss the various weather tools now available online.

Guido Hassig, FAA Safety Team Program Manager will demonstrate how you as a pilot can perform an Advanced Preflight to ensure an airworthy aircraft before your next flight!

Don't miss this annual event! Learn how adopting good flying habits will make your flying safer and more enjoyable. We'll see you there!
