Title:
Why Smart Pilots Make Bad Decisions at the Rochester Safety Stand Down 2014!
Topic:
Aeronautical Decision Making
Date and Time:
Saturday, June 14, 2014, starting at 15:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
David St. George
Brief Description:
Featured speaker David St. George, a FAA Designated Pilot Examiner and Safety Team Lead Representative is returning to the Rochester Safety Stand Down event by popular demand! The main focus of his presentation is solving the enigma of why smart people (pilots) continually make stupid (almost predictable) decisions that result in accidents. The three big risk areas consisting of fuel management, weather and maneuvering have been pretty much been engineered out of newer aircraft like the Cirrus. But even with precise fuel indications, pilots still run out of fuel! Did they decide to do this, or did they lower their guard and not decide at all....we need a systematic approach to managing risk and at this exclusive briefing you find out how! This year’s event will be held in the US Airports luxurious corporate hangar facilities located on Scottsville Road at the Greater Rochester International Airport (KROC) on Saturday June 14. The coordinators of the Rochester Safety Stand Down 2014 event are energized by our new focus this year: to improve the level of safety in aviation maintenance and operations! Recurrent training is essential to continued safe aviation operations and the Safety Stand Down event is dedicated to reducing risk to pilots, passengers and aircraft maintainers. The Safety Stand Down features a daylong event to qualify for Inspection Authorization (IA) renewal. IA’s, AMTs, repairmen, owners, and pilots will find great value in these aircraft maintenance seminars as well as the time to come together and collaborate as a community.

Running concurrent to the IA Refresher Course will be multiple safety seminars for pilots.
