Additional Event Information & Acknowledgement of Industry Sponsor(s):
This is the second of three seminars presented by John Swedburg and Bob Clarke.  John Swedburg is a faculty member with Big Bend Community College.  Bob Clarke is a professional pilot.  Between them they have over five decades and many thousands of hours of professional flying and instructional experience.  Bob and John team teach CFI refresher courses, and have taught the annual Flying Farmers seminars for many years.  This safety seminar is made possible by the generous support of the Flying Farmers, and by the Aviation Department of Big Bend Community College.  A brief self evaluation quiz will be completed by each participant at the end of each seminar to assess their understanding of material and concepts.   Seminar 2 begins promptly at 11:30 AM.  About noon there will be a one hour break for lunch.  Seminar 2 will resume at 1:00 PM.  You must be present for the entire seminar to receive FAA Wings credit. The PIC of an aircraft is the final authority for operation of the aircraft on the ramp (briefing passengers - seat belts, comfort, and other passenger safety items), on the runway, and in the air. Good decisions (Aeronautical decision making) are essential for safe, accident free operations. What are "good" decisions? Why do pilots make "bad" decisions? Pre-flight actions include the aircraft pre-flight inspection where you assure it is airworthy and SAFE to fly, review of the airport environment, aircraft performance and "all information" pertinent to the flight. What must you, the pilot, know? How do Rx and over the counter drugs affect us? Can you (the pilot) have a beer before flying home from the airport barbeque? Or a joint?. How can we prepare to fly into towered (or non-towered) airports, or in congested airspace? When do we contact ATC. What is an "ATIS" or "AWOS"?
