Winter weather presents many challenges and at times truly exercises our "go" or "no go" decision making skills.  While our aircraft performance thrives in the colder weather, many aircraft stay in the hanger or on the ramp due to lack of training or experience with winter weather flying.  Flying in the winter can be safe as long as we know our personal limits and are knowledgeable of the aircraft and its performance limits.

Join Ohio FAASTeam Representative and National Association of Flight Instructors Master CFII Greg Flanik as he takes you through winter weather flying and aircraft icing from preflight to post flight.  Greg instructs out of Burke Lakefront and Cuyahoga County airports all year round and draws on his research, experience and tips from others on flying in the Great Lakes and the Northeast during the winter months.

This presentation will focus on the key elements to gather during a weather briefing, airport conditions, aircraft performance, personal equipment, enroute and alternate airport considerations when things don’t go as planned and much more.

With the knowledge obtained from this seminar, you will be able to better understand the risk associated with winter flight. You will discover what using all available resources to the general aviation pilot means, how it can make all flying operations during the winter more safe, more comfortable and enjoyable for both you and passengers. Increase your knowledge while having fun at the same time. Get credit for the new wings program! It will help you become a safer and more proficient pilot.
