Brief Description:
This free FAA "Wings" Safety Seminar will address procedures and communications techniques at non-towered airports. There will also be seminars on tailwheel aircraft, rotorcraft and glider operations.

From I-25 go West on Hwy 119 to Foothills Pkwy; turn East on to Valmont Rd.
From Hwy. 119 (West) turn south on to 28th Street, then turn East on to Valmont Rd.
From Hwy 36 go East, exit on to Foothills Pkwy, turn East on to Valmont Rd.
Thence proceed to Airport Rd. Turn North and turn North again in to the airport. Go East until the main terminal building. The parking lot is West of the Building.

Boulder Airport Day Free FAA"Wings" Seminars
The seminar on "Non Towered Airports" will start at 0800, and will offer pilots a discussion of procedures, communications, and the do's and don'ts of operating at an uncontrolled airfield. A separate seminar entitled "Tail Wheel Aircraft" also begins at 0800. This event will offer pilots and instructors advice on operating, and training in this type of airplane. Both of these seminars will be repeated during the course of the morning.
There will be a breakfast offered in the morning to be enjoyed while you participate in the classes.
The "Rotorcraft Flight Patterns" seminar will begin at 1300, and this informative event will offer all pilots a discussion of:

The problems created when pilots do not understand one another.

What to expect from helicopters when flying in and out of an uncontrolled field.

Why helicopters sometimes do things that don't seem logical.

Parking issues
Another seminar on "The Joy of Soaring" will also be presented at 1300. Attend this event, and find out what flying a sailplane can do to improve your skills in operating powered aircraft. Increase your awareness of sailplanes when flying by learning where these types of aircraft operate, and what to do when one is encountered along your route of flight. Again, both of these seminars will be repeated during the course of the afternoon.
Presenters include Mr. Phil Ecklund, who is a retired UAL Captain, former military pilot and corporate pilot. He has accumulated thousands of hours in single engine aircraft, towplanes and nearly 4000 hours in gliders. Mr. Maleham Black is a very experienced tail wheel CFI, former FBO owner and resident on the field. Mr. Mike Fergione has been active with the safety program for many years. He is a former military rotorcraft pilot and is currently an industrial rotorcraft pilot. Mr. Elliot Crawford is glider and powered aircraft CFI with many years and hours of experience. He is well versed in many aspects of flying sailplanes, and is active within the safety program.
There will be ample time for completion of the "Wings" Cards, and safety program materials will also be available
A lunch will be offered between the programs.
