Title:
Staying Ahead of the Eight Ball! Single Pilot CRM
Topic:
Single Pilot Cockpit Resource Management.

Saturday, April 10, 2010, starting at 09:00 Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Bill VanArtsdalen and FAASTeam Reps
Brief Description:
This event will stress the importance of CRM in the single pilot environment. Adapting CRM for single pilot operations will help reduce the most common factors in general aviation accidents and incidents, poor judgment and poor decision making. Decision making and planning reach a whole new level when there is no other crew member to rely on. This event will teach you how to use CRM to effectively manage all available resources, both on the ground and in the air!

While crew resource management (CRM) focuses on pilots operating in crew environments, many of the concepts apply to single pilot operations. Many CRM principles have been successfully applied to single-pilot aircraft which led to the development of single-pilot resource management (SRM). SRM is defined as the art of managing all the resources (both onboard the aircraft and from outside sources) available to a pilot prior to and during flight to ensure a successful flight.

Time permitting FAA Safety Team Program Manager Bill VanArtsdalen will be discussing the new updated 'WINGS" program and the faasafety.gov website.

The CRM safety event will be followed at 11:00 am by the Marywood Aviation Programs' Annual Aviation Exploration Day!

A big thank you to the Aviation Day Sponsors which include; Tech Aviation Flight School, Saker Aviation Services, Wilkes Barre/Scranton International Airport, and more.
